Fit & Sizing

Will this helmet fit my head?

That's the whole point of SafeFit®. Traditional helmets are built around fixed shapes, pressure points, bulk and all. SafeFit adapts to your head for a close, comfortable fit without the fuss. It fits heads between 51 and 61 cm across two sizes.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure your head circumference about 1 cm above your eyebrows and check our size guide.

XS/S: 51–56 cm M/L: 55–61 cm

Stuck between sizes 55 and 56 cm?

We offer two sizes: XS/S (51–56 cm) and M/L (55–61 cm). If you measure 55 cm and have a deeper head shape, go for the M/L.

Every helmet comes with two sets of padding — thin and thick. Swap them to dial in the fit.

What if it doesn't fit?

Start a return through our self-service return portal. No need to contact us first.

Can I wear it with thick hair, curly hair or a ponytail?

Yes. SafeFit adapts to different head shapes and hair volumes better than any fixed-fit system. Got thick or curly hair and a head size between 55 and 56 cm? Go for the M/L — it gives you the room to dial it in properly.

Can I try the helmet before ordering?

At the moment, our helmets are only available online and not yet through physical retailers.

What makes headfirst different?

Most helmets are built to the minimum standard. We built ours to go beyond it, multi-impact certified, rotational impact proof by design and fitted with SafeFit so it actually stays on your head comfortably.

What is SafeFit®?

SafeFit is our patented (pending) fit system built inside the helmet shell. Press the sides and it adapts to your head. No dials, no fiddling, no pressure points.

Is the Echo Pro safety certified?

Yes. Certified to EN 1078 (EU) and CPSC (US) for cycling and urban mobility. Also certified for skateboarding and trick roller skating, confirming multi-impact protection beyond cycling.

What is the integrated brake light?

A motion-sensing rear light built directly into the helmet. It activates automatically when you slow down — no buttons mid-ride, no apps, no forgetting.

Is the Echo Pro suitable for e-bikes?

Yes. Built for urban riders, commuters and e-bike users.

How long does delivery take?

Please refer to the estimated delivery time shown on the product page for the most accurate and up-to-date shipping estimate. Free delivery to the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Denmark.

Can I track my order?

Yes. You'll receive tracking details by email once your order ships.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Returns & Warranty

How do I return my order?

Start your return through our self-service return portal. No need to contact us first.

How long do I have to return my helmet?

Can I exchange for a different size?

The quickest way is to return your original order and place a new one.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Contact us at hello@headfirsthelmets.com and we'll make it right.

Does headfirst offer a warranty?

Yes. Every helmet comes with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Crash Replacement

What if I crash while wearing my headfirst helmet?

Check your helmet before you ride again. Look for cracks or damage to the outer shell — if it's broken or visibly compromised, replace it. Not sure? Send us a photo and we'll give you an honest answer.

What is the Crash Replacement Program?

If your helmet took a hit, it did its job. Now it's our turn. Eligible customers get 40% off a replacement helmet.

Who is eligible?
  • Your helmet was damaged in a cycling accident
  • It was purchased within the last 2 years
  • You have proof of purchase or an order number
  • It was bought through headfirst or an authorised retailer
How do I apply?

Email hello@headfirsthelmets.com with:

  • Your order number or proof of purchase
  • A photo of the damaged helmet
  • A short description of what happened

Once approved, we'll send you a personal discount code.

How long does approval take?

Typically within 48 hours.

Can I choose a different colour or model?

Yes. Your discount works on any headfirst helmet on our website.

Can I use it more than once?

One replacement per helmet purchased.

Does crash replacement replace my warranty?

No. Warranty covers manufacturing defects. Crash replacement covers accident damage. Two different things.

Care & Support

How do I charge the brake light?

Via USB-C. The charging port sits inside the helmet so you never have to remove the light. Fully charged in under an hour and good for 9–10 hours of use.

How do I clean my helmet?

Mild soap, warm water and a soft cloth. No harsh chemicals and no full submersion.

When should I replace my helmet?

Our helmets are built for multiple impacts. Replace it if you spot cracks or visible damage to the outer shell after a crash. When in doubt, reach out, we'll tell you straight.
